Myron Gene DuToit was born August 29, 1940, in Garwin, Iowa. He was the son of Deward Everett and Hulene Margaret (Blake) DuToit. Myron attended grade school at the country school in Garwin. Later in life, he decided to proudly serve his country in the United States Army National Guard. On June 12, 1965, Myron married the love of his life, Judy (Madera) DuToit at the Garwin Christian Church.
Myron grew up on the farm in Garwin that taught him the value of responsibility and hard work that carried into his working career. In Marshalltown, he worked as a mechanic at Anderson Pontiac, started a carpet installation business, DuToit’s Carpet Service, for 40 years, and then worked at Fisher Controls for 37 years as a welder and later as a stock selector until retirement.
In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn, working on cars, fixing things around the house, which included shingling the roof, remodeling kitchens/bathrooms, building sheds, installing patios and landscaping.
He also enjoyed spending time with family. Myron and Judy discovered dancing and spent many weekends at the Moose Lodge dancing with friends. In their later years, they became snowbirds and spent 13 winters in Donna, Texas at the Victoria Palms RV Resort.
Myron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; his two sons: Scott (Melodie) and Randy (Michelle) DuToit, both of Altoona, Iowa; his five grandchildren: Alexander (Renee) DuToit, Aaron DuToit, Nicole (Hamp Kindley) DuToit, Brandon DuToit, and Alexis DuToit; his two great-grandchildren: Everson and Eloise; and his three siblings: Phyllis Konicek of Garwin, Iowa, Jean Purdy of LeGrand, Iowa, and Jane Ryerson of Centerville, Ohio.
