A Celebration of the Life of Deacon Myrt Lee Kirby Frost:
A Woman of Love, Strength, Grace, and Faith
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue." Proverbs 31:25-26
Deacon Myrt Lee Kirby Frost was born on May 5, 1941, in Florence, SC, the youngest daughter of the late Annie Bell Timmons and the late Maze McElveen. On Thursday, March 20, 2025, she transitioned from this earthly life to the open arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though she is no longer with us physically, her love, wisdom, and guiding light will forever remain in our hearts and inspire us in the days to come.
Deacon Myrt Lee Kirby Frost received her formal education in the public schools of Florence and attended Wilson High School. In the Spring of 1982, she completed the Certified Nursing Assistant Program at Florence Darlington Technical College in Florence, SC.
As a young woman, she met and married the love of her life, the late Roscoe Frost. Together, they built a beautiful life full of love and family, blessed with seven children. They grew old together with grace and, when illness struck her beloved husband, Deacon Myrt became his devoted caregiver. She took on this role with unwavering compassion, always putting his needs above her own, even when it was difficult. Her devotion and love were a living testament to the words of Proverbs 31: "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." She embodied the virtues of selflessness, sacrifice, and unconditional love, especially during this time of care for her husband.
As a mother, Deacon Myrt gave the gift of unconditional love and support, always placing her family's needs before her own. Beyond her role as a mother, she was also a friend, mentor, and source of wisdom to many. Her life was one of resilience, grace, and strength, and her impact will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
Deacon Myrt Lee Kirby Frost joined Southern Calvary Church under the leadership of Reverend Anthony and continued to worship under Rev. Dr. John McKenny. She served faithfully as a Deacon, becoming one of the first female Deacons in Florence County under the Baptist faith in 1999. Prior to this, she was an active member of several church ministries, including the building fund committee, gospel choir, usher’s ministry, Pastor’s Aid, and kitchen committee. Her commitment to her church was unwavering, and she inspired many with her servant heart.
Deacon Myrt Lee Kirby Frost was employed at Florence Manufactory and later retired from Legg’s/Hanes Hosiery in Florence, SC. Upon retiring, she enjoyed traveling, vacationing regularly, and attending many Baptist conventions and women’s conferences.
Deacon Myrt Lee Kirby Frost was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons: Daryl Frost and Carl Roscoe Frost, and a grandson, Andra Frost. She was also preceded by her sister, Arlene Burrell.
