She had graduated from Brevard High School in 1955 and graduated with honors from Mars Hill College in 1999 at the age of 50. Myrtle had taught at Murphy Elementary for 17 years. "Myrt" loved her family, caregivers and friends, but above all she loved the Lord and was a member of the Murphy First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Carl, Jr.
"Myrt" is survived by her husband of seventy years Carl Auvil; a son, Brock Auvil (Penny) and a daughter, Candie Auvil of Sylva, NC.
A service will be held at a later date.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
