Myrtle D. (Miller) Weisner, 91, formerly of Kutztown, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in Tower Health - Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA, where she was admitted from Berks Heim. She was the widow of Harold G. Weisner, who died on November 19, 2017 and whom she married on December 25, 1951.
Born in Kutztown, Myrtle was a daughter of the late Arlan J. Miller, Sr., and Helen R. (Seibert) Miller. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Krumsville. She was employed for many years as a sewing machine operator at the former H. K. Deisher Knitting Mills, Kutztown, until her retirement. She also worked at the former Kutztown Shoe and Kutztown Wallet Factories. Myrtle was a charter member of the Red Hat Society, Pretty Purple Posies Chapter. Most recently, while living at Berks Heim, Myrtle joined their chapter of the Red Hat Society, The Heim Hatters. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her own flower gardens, and bird watching.
Myrtle is survived by her two daughters, Sharon C. (Weisner), wife of Martin L. Billger, Mertztown, and Shirlene M. (Weisner), wife of Gary J. Gibson, Kutztown; four grandchildren, Sherrilyn M. Billger, wife of Andrew Smith, Daniel M. Billger, Nathaniel S., husband of Anne (Kent) Gibson, and Shawn M., husband of Christy N. (Wails) Gibson; and one great-grandson, Justin D. Billger. Along with her husband and parents, Myrtle was predeceased by two brothers, Richard L. Geiring, Sr., in 1995 and Arlan J. Miller, Jr., in 2013.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Myrtle's life will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown, with Vicar Jeremiah T. Heydt, officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown (Krumsville). Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
The family requests contributions be made in Myrtle's memory to Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown, PA 19530.
