Myrtle Joanne Wolf passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. Myrtle (Joanne) Wolf was born in Stratton, Colorado, July 7,1927, to Jerry and Mabel (Pugh) Guy.
Joanne was the 7th of eight children. She graduated from Bethune High School in 1946 and was united in marriage to William (Bill) Wolf May 3, 1948, at St. Charles Church in Stratton, Colorado.
Bill and Joanne resided in Stratton until 1952, when they moved to Lamar, Colorado. They moved to Alamosa in 1962 where they resided until Bills retirement in 1984 when they moved to Monte Vista.
Joanne's working career in Lamar and Alamosa was in banking. When
Bill retired Joanne retired from banking. She then went to work at the Sargent School District as a cook. In 2006 she moved north of Bethune to help care for her brother David. She later bought a house in Seibert and lived there on her own until the age of 97 when she went to live at the Aspen Leaf in Stratton.
Bill started the AA program in the San Luis Valley and Joanne worked at his side performing Alanon duties. They helped many, many people with their struggles of alcoholism. They often opened their home late at night to help those who Joanne would say were at the end of their road.
Joanne had a fiery personality and a blunt way of talking to people which aided her well in her Alanon work. When they lived in Alamosa Joanne always looked forward to August when family would show up for a weekend to help cut their winter supply of wood. She always anticipated going to the Wolf family reunion until she could no longer attend. She will be remembered for how she handled many adversities in her life, her spunk, and independent spirit, and her love for her dogs, for which there was always one who would replace the previous best dog she ever had. Favorite pastimes were needlepoint and embroidery, (which she donated many of to the St. Charles Bazaar and family members). She enjoyed filling in missing vowel puzzles and putting 300 piece or more puzzles together. Until failing eye sight prevented her from doing these things.
Those preceding her in death were her mother Mabel Guy, father Jerry Guy, her husband Bill, sister Jane and husband Horace Bandimere, brother Richard and wife Betty (Corliss), brother David and wife Alvina (Weisshaar), sister Leona and husband Dean Chapman, Margaret and husband Vernon Chapman, sister Pauline and husband Rufus Berver, sister Roberta and husband Dale Kindred.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Rosary was held Friday, August 29, 2025, in the evening, and funeral
Mass was Saturday, August 30,2025 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton with internment later at the Monte Vista Cemetery in Monte Vista, Colorado.
