Myrtle May York

Myrtle May York, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Born in Grundy, VA, on April 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rosie Stacy. Myrtle made her career as a press operator at Factors in Bear for 30 years until her retirement.

Myrtle could often be found sitting on her porch talking to her neighbors. In her spare time, she loved playing computer games and connecting with her friends and family. Myrtle also enjoyed feeding her hummingbirds.

In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Creed Lewis York; and siblings, Ira Stacy, Acie Stacy, Nedith Stacy, Geneva Reeves, Carlos Stacy, Birchie Crockett, Pauline Justus, Judy Blankenship, Sue Holden, and Doug Stacy. She is survived by her stepchildren, Delbert York (Sandra) and Belinda Lamey (Harry); step grandchildren, Jason Moran and Michael York; sibling, Temis Stacy; and sister-in-law and best friend, Marlena Jo York McDowell.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. A committal service will follow in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
