The family of N. Pauline (DiMarco) Sleighter, known as Polly, wishes to announce the passing of their cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. While we are deeply saddened by her passing, we celebrate the beautiful, selfless, and faith-filled life she lived - a life centered on family, friendship, and devotion to God.

Born in Dunbar, Pennsylvania, Polly was the daughter of Albert and Angelina DiMarco. She grew up alongside her brothers James and Marcus, and her cousins John and Francis DiMarco, with whom she shared a duplex home.

Polly married John Ross Sleighter, and together they built a family. When John passed away unexpectedly at the age of 43, Polly faced the challenge of raising six children on her own, all between the ages of 1 and 13.

For nearly 25 years, Polly worked at the Bell Telephone Company in Uniontown. She made sure her family was always cared for - every meal home-cooked, every holiday celebrated, every birthday remembered. Sunday dinners after church became a cherished tradition filled with laughter, pasta, and plenty of dessert. She adored seeing her family together around her dining room table. Sunday night's always included coffee and conversation with "the three amigo's", Polly, Fran and dear friend Imogene Crochetti. Her cousin Fran and later Imogene were like sisters to her.

Her children remember her as a mother whose voice could even be heard on the phone lines, literally, as she was the recorded voice for Bell Telephone's local error messages. "You couldn't escape Mom's discipline," they joked, "even when you dialed the wrong number."

After her children had grown, Polly could have taken time for herself, instead she retired early to care for her aging mother, Angelina, who lived with her for five years. When Angelina entered a nursing home at age 92, Polly continued to visit her daily providing care and comfort.

Polly was a devoted member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, where she was active in the Christian Mothers Club and Jefferson Club. Later in life she joined St Therese Church in Uniontown.

Every visit to her home came with her signature questions:
"Did you call your brother or sister?"
"Did you go to church this week?"
"Can you eat more of this pasta?"
Her message was simple - and lasting: Faith, Family, and Food.

Polly found joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a gentle listener, a source of wisdom and comfort, and never forgot a birthday - her cards always signed with love and sealed with a five-dollar bill inside that made every child feel special.

Polly is survived by her loving children: Mary Ann (Jim) Grego of Uniontown; John (Mary Carol) Sleighter of Gibsonia; Sharon (Simon) John of Uniontown; Robert (Susan) Sleighter of Uniontown; and her daughter-in-law Linda Sleighter of Uniontown. She was preceded in death by her husband John Ross (1963), her daughter Linda Sue (1980), her son Christopher Thomas (2024), and her granddaughter Nicole Leigh (2025). She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and a great grandson on the way.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home & Crematories, Inc. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, followed by the Prayers of Transference. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill Street, Uniontown, PA 15401. Interment will follow in Indian Creek Cemetery, Mill Run, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
