Nadia Alexandra

Nadia Alexandra passed away peacefully at her Elk Grove home, on September 3, 2025.

Nadia was a life long Sacramento area resident, born on June 18, 1954 as Barbara Jean Ryder, to Mayo Ryder and Velda Wahl. She was a 1972 graduate of Sacramento High. She had an outgoing personality and made friends easily. She loved cruising and went to many interesting places. She gave her support to several local charities including Sacramento Loaves and Fishes.

Nadia felt an emptiness in her life and wanted to know more about God and Religion. After many discussions with her friend Hadley, Nadia decided that she wanted to become Catholic. This was in late 2019. Nadia started going to classes at the age of 65, and then this thing called Covid came along. It slowed her down, but did not stop her.

Nadia fulfilled her goal of becoming Catholic. She embraced her faith and the closeness she developed with Jesus.

Nadia is survived by her Husband, Martin Backus, her Son, Tarek Majali, his wife Talin, Daughters, Thurayya and Lutfiyya and Grandchildren Faisal and Zeina.

A Funeral Mass was held at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 8700 Bradshaw Rd, Elk Grove, CA, on September 17, 2025. Nadia's Interment was at Calvary Cemetery 7101 Verner Ave, Citrus Heights, CA.
