GREENTOWN, PA. - Beth Ann Johnson, 87, of Greentown, Pa., formerly of Castleton, N.Y., passed away on September 18, 2025, at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Facility, in Lake Ariel, Pa. Born in Nassau, N.Y., to the late William and Mildred (Kells) Cooper, she attended Columbia High School, and lived most of her life in Castleton, while raising her family, prior to moving to Pennsylvania.
Beth held positions during her working career at Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer, and with the N.Y.S. Library, where she worked with braille books. She also held two paper routes with the former Knickerbocker News. Beth enjoyed arts and crafts, especially painting and ceramics. She spent her days reading the newspaper, completing jigsaw puzzles, and tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was a Precious Moments collector, bowled in a local league, and was known to dance the Jitterbug while listening to her beloved Elvis. Beth was also an avid animal lover, especially of her late dogs, Rocky and Roxie.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Warren E. Johnson; her partner, Edward Gardener; sons, Keith, Bobby and Dennis Johnson; brother, Jon Cooper; and her grandson, Eugene Johnson. She is survived by her children, Wesley Johnson, Lisa Kizer (late John Kizer), and Wendy Johnson; brother, Keven Cooper; grandchildren, Craig Kizer, Michael Johnson, Shaun Johnson, Jerome Johnson, Katarina Ozea, and Jessica Johnson. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Kyla Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, and Jeremiah Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at the Castleton Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, N.Y., on Thursday, September 25, at 2:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Beth's family prior to the service, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Interment in Horizon View Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Beth's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, a local animal rescue, or humane society of your choice.
