Nan Lassetter Gilbert, 91, of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed from this world into the next on March 1, 2026. She was born in Harperville, Mississippi, on April 13, 1934, to Benjamin Poole and Lola Louise Lyle Lassetter, and grew up there with her five brothers and one sister. Nan was preceded in death by her husband, J.T., who was called home to be with his Lord on January 9, 1990. They lived in Jackson, Mississippi, for 34 years before moving to Tupelo in 1987.
She is survived by her daughters Gail Comola (Webb) of Cleveland, Tenseness, Mona Walker (Steve) of Riverside, California, and Debbie Hernandez (Danny) of Whittier, California, and a brother, Bob Lassetter (Doris) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, six grandchildren, Gilbert Matthew Comola (Haley), Anna Comola, Tim Walker (Brittany), Ben Walker (Lindsay), Josh Hernandez, and Makayla Hernandez, and five great-grandchildren, Maddox, Riley, Elliot, Aliyah, Oliver, and Brynn.
Nan graduated from Mississippi Baptist Hospital Gilfoy School of Nursing and earned her RN license in 1954. For many years, she worked as a home health nurse with the Gilbert’s Home Health Agencies, which she and her husband founded and developed. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, active church member, nurse, and home health administrator. She was a beloved member of Calvary Baptist Church of Tupelo, where she was very involved in several programs and ministries. Because of her heart for the world, she prayed, served, and gave to support the gospel going to the ends of the earth. Nan leaves a legacy of lives touched by her love, service, and generosity and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday, March 27, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, Tupelo.
A celebration of Nan’s life will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church, 501 W Main St., Tupelo. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Mission Fund, 501 West Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38804.
