Nancy Aberg Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Girdner Funeral Chapel - Yreka on May 6, 2025.
Nancy Sue Aberg (McGown) was born in San Diego, California, and passed peacefully on April 2, 2025, surrounded by the legacy of the wild, adventurous, and fiercely independent life she lived.
Nancy was married to Hans Aberg for over 40 years. Together, they built a life rooted in hard work, family, and a deep respect for nature. She is survived by her devoted husband Hans, her daughter Ceanne Livingston, and her cherished grandsons Dylan and Skyler Petersen, and Zion Johnson. She also leaves behind her beloved sister Ruthanne, and her nephew Mark, with whom she shared many adventures. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary and other loved ones who now welcome her home.
Professionally, Nancy was a trained anesthetist for large animals through UC Davis. Over the years, she worked with a stunning array of creatures - from horses to lions, tigers, and bears. Her calm strength and expert care were trusted by veterinarians and wildlife professionals alike.
Nancy had a passion for raising and training Arabian horses and generations of Jack Russell Terriers. She also had a fierce sense of curiosity that led her into the mountains to gold mine and under the sea to scuba dive around the world. Whether exploring nature, caring for animals, or mastering a new skill, Nancy lived life on her own terms - boldly, fearlessly, and unapologetically.
She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and community - including her church family, fellow adventurers, and the animal lovers whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 2:00 PM at Fort Jones Community Church, located at 13007 CA-3, Fort Jones, California.
