Nancy Armstrong Obituary

Nancy Kay Armstrong

April 9, 1941 - May 12, 2025

Meridian, Idaho - Nancy Kay Armstrong, 84, of Meridian passed away at home on Monday, May 12, 2025.

She was born in Nampa, Idaho on April 9, 1941, to LeRoy and Marjorie Lou Armstrong, nee Stephenson. Nancy was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Shannon and her husband, Rock Jones. She is survived by her children and their families; Suzanne, Michael, Jonathan, Stephanie, brothers Stephen and Dean and her companion, Ronald Van Auker.

With creative talent and energy, Nancy, along with her husband, established the successful interior design firm, Armstrong Planning and Design in Boise. Among many projects, it was her long standing relationship with St. Luke's Regional Medical Center she was most proud, earning her the cover of Interiors Magazine. Her passion for design continued with the founding of Interior Designers of Idaho and its annual furniture design competition, Chair Affair, now in its 32nd year. After her retirement, she pursued photography with the same dedication to capturing beauty as she did with every endeavor. Her love of painting never ceased, lasting into the last year of her life and amassed a collection of artwork featuring playful children, animals and the birds she photographed.

Nancy was a force of life that was always positive and supportive of those around her. She held a deep appreciation for the beauty of life, which was expressed in her art and poetry. She will be remembered by her family and friends with love and gratitude.

A memorial will be held for family. Contribution to St. Luke's in her name is appreciated.

Nancy was a remarkable person with unlimited talent and class. Those of us who called her "cousin" always knew she was a star long ago. Amazing woman who we will never forget.

Nancy was a sheer talent and an absolutely beautiful soul. I had the opportunity of reproducing her artwork for many years and always looked forward to collaborating on her yearly Christmas cards. Those were no small feat! She hand embellished every one of them, sending a personalized and lovely card each year. Her artistic talent knew no end. Nancy was kind and caring and always an absolute joy to work with. She'll be missed.

I remember when Nancy took me fishing for the first time, at a ditch in Caldwell, back in the 50's. She threw my fish back in the ditch because it was too small and that made me sad. She also took me on my first horse back ride and we almost fell off. Fun memories. My cousin was a fun girl, and a talented lady. Always beautiful.

We´re going to miss Nancy in our lives. When Ron introduced us to her it was instant affection. Those two were jigsaw puzzle pieces that fit.
She was strong, smart, artistic and so easy and fun to be with.
