Nancy Barchard Obituary

Nancy Lee Barchard
Born: March 29, 1930 in Chicago, IL
Died: May 5, 2022 in McHenry, IL
Nancy Lee Barchard, of McHenry, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the age of 92.
She was born March 29, 1930 in Chicago, the daughter of the late William and Zora (nee Fowler) Aldridge.
Nancy loved to entertain, whether hosting Christmas dinner for 40 people every year, or bringing you a margarita by the pool, always with elegance.
She enjoyed gardening, planting her flowers just so every spring and gathering vegetables from her garden to feed her family. She was a Chicago sports enthusiast rooting for the Bulls, Bears and especially her beloved Cubs. We were so thrilled to be able to watch the Cubs win the world series with her. Yes, we cried. One of her proudest moments was shaking Ernie Banks' hand.
Grandma was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always spoiling them. Holding a new baby was always the best for her. She attended every sports game she could, to watch them, often bribing them with five dollars to get a hit, score a goal, or shoot a basket. And always, always the loudest cheerleader. Family was the most important thing for her.
Traveling was a favorite, either with friends or family. Cruises, Europe, Florida, she was always up for a great time.
Nancy is survived by her Prince Charming of 72 years, John; her children, Richard (Debra) Barchard, Mark Barchard, and Tammy (Eric) Hammarstedt; her grandchildren, Michael (Sara) Barchard, Cole (Kristine) Barchard, Leah Hammarstedt, Curry Carty, John (Keri Akkawi) Barchard, Kyla (Eric) Mouroukas, Jake Barchard, and Nicholas Barchard; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Jack, Colin, Quinn, Kaelyn, Raegan, Crosby, Girius, and Kora; her brothers, Gene (Doraluz) Aldridge and William Aldridge; and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank her Journey Care nurses, Brittany and Debbie who served with such compassion; and her caregiver, Latifat who loved her and took great care of her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Aldridge and his wife Marti; sister, Jackie Rollins and her husband, Robert.
Memorial visitation will be held Sunday, May 15 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt 176) Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or to the charity of your choice.

A Wonderful person
Kind, warm and inviting and a helluva good cook.

I remember many a Thanksgiving meal spent at the Barchards-I looked forward to that meal all year long. Great big family, great meal and great memories
