Nancy Brown (nee O'Brien), age 83, of Burr Ridge, passed away September 25, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Charles Rodger Brown II for a wonderful 58 years. Loving mother of Heather (Edwin) Ryerson, Charles Rodger (Kimber) Brown III and Charla (John) Mattern. Devoted grandmother of Abbey, Anna, Brendan, Lily, Christian, Adelaide, Edwin, and Nora. Cherished sister of Terrence O'Brien, Dennis O'Brien and Richard O'Brien. Dear sister-in-law of Judith (Leonard) Muller. Fond aunt and friend of many. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Honorable Donald & Helen O'Brien; brother, Honorable Donald O'Brien Jr.; parents-in-law, Charles & Devona Brown; and siblings-in-law, Doe Ann (Craig) Traver, Mary Jean (Bud) Reese and Quentin Brown.

Nancy graduated from Loretto Heights College in 1963 and married Rodger Brown. She raised her kids, Heather, Rodger and Charla. She went back to school to pursue her Master of Social Work. Nancy worked as a school social worker in the Argo Summit School District for 20 years. After she retired, she volunteered for Buddy's Place (part of Pillars Community Health) for many years, where she helped kids who have lost a loved one. Nancy received the "Peach" Award from A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative in 1998. She was the IASSW school social worker of the year in 2001. She received the Linda Moran Buddy Award from Buddy's Place in 2014. Nancy loved spending time with her family, friends, neighbors, and summers in Michigan.

Memorial Mass 10am Thursday, October 16th at St. Cletus Church, 600 W. 55 th St., LaGrange. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pillars Community Health or St. Cletus Church. Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside at 708-352-6500.
