Nancy Elaine Cameron, a woman of vibrant spirit and boundless energy, completed her earthly journey on September 17, 2025, in Libertyville, IL, at the age of 85. Born under the warm sun of Sioux City, IA, on July 3, 1940, Nancy's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her dedication to education, and her love for the beauty of God's creation.
Nancy's legacy is marked by her exceptional career in education, where she inspired countless students across Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. As a graduate of Sioux City Central High School, where she proudly twirled as a majorette, she went on to earn her degree in Physical Education, Health, and Biology from Mankato State University, followed by graduate work at the University of Iowa. Her passion for learning was matched only by her commitment to her students, as evidenced by her 28-year tenure coaching varsity gymnastics and her roles as a local, regional, and state meet official. Nancy's influence extended beyond the gymnasium; she was a cherished coach for golf, cheerleading, and baton, and lent her creative talents to choreographing high school musicals.
In her service to the community and her profession, Nancy held offices of Dance Chair at both state and district levels, and her expertise was sought after at national conventions. Her voice resonated through the halls of state and district conventions as a respected presenter. Even after retirement from Urbandale High School, her love for teaching persisted as she continued to guide young minds as a substitute teacher at Northland Pines High School in
Eagle River, WI.
Nancy's heart was truly at home amidst the tranquility of Eagle River, where she embraced the serenity of lake living. She found joy in x-country skiing, hiking, and snowshoeing through the winter wonderlands of Wisconsin. The arts held a special place in her heart, as she delighted in musicals and ballets. Her adventurous spirit shone through her travels with her daughter and trips to Florida with friends. Ever the naturalist, Nancy was a steward of wildlife, serving as a loon ranger and finding peace in feeding the creatures that visited her lakeside abode. Her love for dogs was profound, and she leaves behind her cherished miniature poodle, Lizzy.
Nancy's life was a reflection of her faith, and she exemplified the Christian virtues of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She was an active member at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in
Eagle River, WI. As a beacon of light in her community, she volunteered at the St. Germain thrift store, always ready to extend a helping hand. Her motivation and positivity were infectious, reminding us of the words of the Apostle Paul: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). This scripture perfectly encapsulates Nancy's approach to life's challenges and achievements.
Predeceased by her parents and brother Dennis Munch. Nancy's memory will be cherished by her loving daughter, Berkley Cameron, her nephews Jon (Holly Munch) and Jeritt Munch, sister-in-law Carolyn Munch and the multitude of lives she touched. Nancy Elaine Cameron lived fully, loved deeply, and left a legacy of strength and grace that will continue to inspire all who knew her. As we celebrate her homecoming to the Lord, we hold fast to the assurance that her spirit soars free, just like the loons she so dearly protected.
