Nancy Marie Carl

Nancy Marie (Stroman) Carl, 89, wife of the late Raymond L. Carl, Sr. of Cleveland, Ga., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born on March 1, 1936, in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of the late George and Eleanor Stroman.
Mrs. Carl passed away peacefully after spending the afternoon doing something she loved, working on Christmas crafts for the upcoming holiday. She graduated from Phoenixville High School and managed her family home only a block away from the house she grew up in as a child. Her family, both immediate and distant, was everything to her. She loved planning family parties and picnics. She was a mentor to her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carl moved from Phoenixville in 2006 to North Georgia to be closer to her daughter and family. There she became an active member in the White County Senior Center, attended Friendship Baptist Church, and participated in the monthly luncheons held at Concord Baptist Church. She made many friends along the way, never missing the opportunity to send out greeting cards for birthdays or special occasions.
Nanny, as she was referred to by all, enjoyed cross-stitching tablecloths, cooking and baking. She was well known for her chocolate peanut-butter eggs, made for Easter, nut cups, made for Christmas and potato soup, enjoyed throughout the year. She loved taking trips, going on family vacations and jaunts to the casino.
She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished the phone calls and the moments she shared with her family. She will be missed.
Mrs. Carl is survived by her children, Raymond L. Carl, Jr., and daughter in law, Karen Carl; Barbara Young, son in law, Dean Young; three grandchildren, Justin Carl, Jeffrey Carl and Devon Clay; and ten great grandchildren: Wesley, Nash, Wyatt, Rowan, Ada, Brooks, Ridge, Trace, Silas and Julia. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three siblings, Katherine, Marvin and Margaret.
A celebration of life service will be held in the spring 2026 at Friendship Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ga.
