Nancy Greene Carpenter

Nancy Jeanette Greene Carpenter, 93, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center.

Nancy was born July 16, 1931 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Cecil Baxter Greene, Sr. and the late Novella Bessie Hatley Greene. 

She was also preceded in death by husband of 74 years, Archie Glendale Carpenter with whom she shared a beautiful life together, having met in Aquadale when he pulled up on his tractor. They were married in 1947.

The graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 11:00 am at Greene Cemetery, 32871 Church Street, Norwood, NC 28128, officiated by Rev. Matthew Broadway and Pastor Jason Russell. Burial will immediately follow. 

Survivors include children, Rebecca Dulin and husband, Hamp of Charlotte, Suzanne R. Burleson and husband, Jerry of Indian Trail; Archie Glendale Carpenter Jr. and wife, Debra of Wilmington, David W. Carpenter and wife, Sandi of New London; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Cecil Baxter Greene, Jr and wife, Polly; and sister-in-law, Bette Carpenter.

Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. Her love for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was a Christian model for her family which made a world of difference in their lives. She was a giving woman, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She found joy in giving things away to those she cared about.

Nancy found great joy in working in her garden, where she spent many hours tending to her flowers and plants. Her John Deere lawnmower was another love of hers, taking pride in her well-maintained yard and the simple pleasures of life.

She worked for Dr. James Grout as an Optometric Assistant for many years, an accomplishment she took great pride in. She valued the connections she made through her work and found fulfillment in helping others.
