Nancy Guglielmo Carrino went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2025. She passed away peacefully shortly before reaching the age of 93, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born in October of 1932 in Tremensouli, Italy – a village on the Tyrrhenian Sea. She lived there with her mother, Annunziata and older brother, Nick while her father, Frank and older brother, Andy were working in the United States. Nancy and her family lived in Italy at a time when much of their home region had turned into a battlefield during World War II. When she was 11 years old, she was displaced from her home to escape the fighting and often lived as a guest with other families over the course of several years.
After the War, she, along with her mother and brother emigrated to the United States in February of 1948 and settled in Youngstown, Ohio. She enrolled in the local public schools at age 14 and spoke only Italian; she ultimately finished all 12 grades in five years and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in June of 1953. From then on, she was fluent in English and spoke her second language impeccably for the rest of her life. Shortly after graduating, she met her future husband Henry Carrino at a wedding reception in Youngstown. His family was also of Nancy's region. They married in 1954 and lived in Wadsworth for the remainder of their days. Here, she raised her family. The role of being a wife and mother meant everything to her. After Henry died in 1996, she remained in their home and continued enjoy being with her children and grandchildren while maintaining an abiding passion for gardening. She was very religious and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish for the better part of 70 years.
Nancy is survived by her brother Nick (Olga) and her children: Ralph Carrino (Charlotte), Lawrence Carrino (Cathy), Frank Carrino (Maria Celeste Cook) and Felicia Carrino as well as grandchildren: Christie Carrino (Dan Lindberg), Allyson Rinchiuso (Mike), Maria Angelica Carrino (Brendan Shefcik), Melanie Carrino, Nina Carrino and Vincent Carrino.
