NANCY H. DANBERG
Nancy Danberg passed away peacefully at Lakeside Generations on August 26, 2024 at the age of 88. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when needed, offering love, comfort and support. She would give the shirt off her back and help in any way she could. She will be missed dearly.
Nancy was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on her 3-year-old sister's birthday. Her parents were Herb and Millie Broan. When she was 3 years old, her family moved to Minneapolis. She attended Central High School. She and Kale Danberg were married in 1954. They moved to Beloit, Wisconsin for three years where their first two children Linda and David were born, and then moved to Cokato. She was a resident of Cokato until 2006 when she moved to Dassel.
Nancy was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Cokato for over 60 years. She sang in the choir, was a deaconess, co-leader of the women's serving groups, sent bulletins to shut-ins and absent attendees. She had a wonderful gift of hospitality, always had the coffee pot on and homemade goodies on hand whenever someone dropped in, greeting everyone with a big smile and hug. Nancy loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family. If more people showed up for the meal than planned, it was no problem for her; never fear, she would make it work. She always made favorite cakes for birthdays. Collecting goblets and cookie jars was an enjoyment of hers. She thoroughly loved spending time with her three grandchildren, babysitting and taking them on adventures. For many years, she met up with a group of fun-loving ladies at the coffee shop 3, 4, or 5 times a week, and played cards weekly with the neighbor ladies. She was a 57-year member of the American Legion Auxilliary. She was asked to take over the job of Red Cross Service Person Liaison where she made calls to help military people obtain leave during family crises and tragedies. She cleaned houses in Minneapolis, was a certified home health aide, a Para at the Cokato Elementary School, a grocery store sample lady in Minneapolis (her favorite place was Byerlys), the prep cook at Buffalo Culver's when they opened in 1995 (her most enjoyable job), delivered meals on wheels, and drove people to and from the airport or wherever they needed her to take them. She was always ready and raring to go anywhere at a minute's notice.
Survived by daughter Linda (Danberg) Ponsford, son Jeff Danberg, grandchildren Trista (Aaron) DeLong, Kenny Danberg, Seth Danberg, great-grandchild Eliza DeLong, daughter-in-law Donette (David) Danberg, nieces Cathy (Ralph) Mattis, Sharon (Andy) Bailey, nephews Mark (Lisa) Bailey, Kevin (Beth) Bailey, Brian (Barb) Bailey, Dave (Marilyn) Unzicker, and great nieces and nephews.
