Nancy Dannhauser Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Poway Bernardo Mortuary - Poway on Jun. 30, 2022.
Nancy Louise Dannhauser was born Nancy Louise Brzezinski in Jackson, Michigan on March 07, 1962. She was the youngest of 10 children. She went to Catholic school there, and then moved with her parents to Franklin, Ohio during high school. She loved high school and was active in theater and choir. She also excelled in art; the mural she painted of her high school mascot is still on display in her old gymnasium. Nancy graduated high school in 1980 and went on to Miami-Jacobs College of Business, where she graduated in 1982 with an Associates in Business Administration.
In August 1982, Nancy moved to El Cajon, California, where she worked at Chase Manhattan Bank. In 1988, she began working at General Dynamics in the Space System division. One year later, Nancy met the love of her life, Ralph, and they married in 1992. She had two daughters: Nadia, born in 1995 and Erika, born in 1997. She loved traveling, and took many trips throughout the US, Mexico, and Europe.
In 2014, Nancy had a scare with H1N1, resulting in double pneumonia. She ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks, including a one-week stay in the ICU. Through one of the numerous scans taken of Nancy's lungs while in the hospital, her doctors found breast cancer. After recovering, she began her first round of surgeries and chemotherapy. Nancy lost her hair and her appetite, but never lost her smile, positive attitude, or fighting spirit. She was pronounced cancer free and got a brief respite, going about her normal life.
Nancy's cancer returned in 2017, and she went through a second round of chemotherapy. She celebrated the end of her treatment with Ralph by taking a a three week trip to travel Route 66. Nancy's cancer went into remission again, until this year. This time, her oncologists were unable to find the right mix of treatments to keep her cancer at bay and maintain her health. Finally, during her third round of chemotherapy, Nancy's body could not keep up with her fighting spirit, and she succumbed to her illness.
Nancy's last trip was to Mission San Juan Capistrano, where she lit candles with Ralph and her sister, Marji, said her prayers, and found her peace with God. She passed away at home the next day, surrounded by friends and family. Her beautiful smile and bright, shining spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her husband, two daughters, eight remaining siblings, countless nieces and nephews, many adopted nieces and nephews, and her beloved PT Cruiser and Jeep.
