Nancy Emerick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frurip-May Funeral Home on Dec. 16, 2025.
Nancy Joan Emerick, age 79, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at her residence.
She was born on October 29, 1946, in Kendallville, Indiana, to George and Verna (Rice) Hollowell.
Nancy grew up in LaGrange County and lived most of her life on the very land where she was raised-a place filled with memories, family, and love.
In 1964, she married Danny V. Emerick in LaGrange, Indiana, beginning a marriage rooted in family, resilience, and shared history.
Nancy worked at Dometic Corporation in LaGrange from 1990 until her retirement in 2013. A proud UAW member, she was also a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, reflecting her deep compassion for children and families in need.
Known affectionately as "everyone's mom," Nancy had a heart that never turned anyone away. She was always ready to lend a hand, offer a meal, or provide comfort-whether to family, friends, neighbors, or even the stray animals she lovingly cared for around her home. Her nurturing spirit extended to all living things.
Nancy also had an adventurous side. She loved visiting casinos, playing BINGO, and enjoying life's simple thrills. Laughter and fun followed her wherever she went, and she made sure those around her felt included and cared for.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Vernie Shepherd of Stroh and April (Bill) Hoffbauer of Angola; her sons, Daryl (Angie) Emerick of Stroh, Roger Emerick and Jackie Lounsbury of Stroh, and Danny (Beth) Emerick of Avilla; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Pam Handshoe of Angola; her sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Smith of Mongo, Marsha (Michael) Paxson of Stroh, and Jeanette (Butch) Lounsbury of LaGrange; her brother, Dennis Hollowell of Howe; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Hollowell of LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny V. Emerick; her daughter, Melissa Emerick; her sister, Diane Garrison; and her brothers, Gary Hollowell and George Hollowell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan Street, LaGrange, Indiana.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in rural LaGrange.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
