Nancy Emery Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by North's Funeral Home - Abilene on Dec. 24, 2025.
Nancy Emery, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on December 22, 2025.
She was born in Thrapston, Northamptonshire, England, to Gordon and Frances Coales, and attended school in England during World War II. After working for a short while in Oxford, UK, she returned to Thrapston where she met the love of her life, William Emery, who was stationed at RAF Alconbury Air Force Base. They were married in 1959 in England, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned decades.
As a proud Air Force wife, she supported her husband throughout his military career, moving wherever duty called. Their journey took them to Oregon, Vermont, Arizona, Turkey, Illinois, and Kansas, before finally settling in Abilene, Texas, where William retired from the Air Force.
She was talented and creative, with a lifelong love of needlework, knitting, and sewing. In Abilene, she owned and operated "Made from Scratch," a craft store specializing in alterations and baby clothing, a business that reflected both her skill and care for others.
She is survived by her loving husband, William C. Emery of Abilene; her children, Martin Emery (Mindy) of Forestburg, Texas, and Jill Emery (Dennis) of Portland, Oregon; and her cherished granddaughter, Pearl Hodges.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Frances Coales, and her brothers, John and Anthony.

It was such a pleasure and honor to care for her and call her a friend. She was wonderful to talk to and taught me a lot when telling me about her life. She will be truly missed.
