Sandy, I'm sorry for your loss. I believe you were the surrogate owners of my sweet dog, Punki or "Tramp", way back when. I thought you'd like to know that she lived a long life roaming golf courses in Stow, MA. (If I'm mistaken, please forgive me.) I hope this small remembrance gives you some comfort at this most difficult time.

American literature has lost a voice of those who have often cried themselves to sleep because of the nonunderstanding of their peers of a deep love felt by those of the same sex. Nancy liked the Quaker phrase, 'holding you in the light', and her light was ever bright, true and steadfast. She was my friend, role model, teacher, editor, inspiration, and my second mother, along with Sandy. I will miss her dearly.
