Nancy Grady Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Middlebur on Jan. 2, 2024.
"Loving mother and grandmother"
Nancy DiMaria Grady, 76, of Watertown, died unexpectedly on Saturday December 30, 2023 at her residence. She was married to the late David Grady of Watertown, CT.
Nancy was a public school teacher in the town of Naugatuck for forty years until her retirement in 2008. She intimately touched the lives of thousands of students during her time in the classroom. It always made her pleased to meet with former students, many of whom she corresponded with until her death. She was awarded the CAS Award of Excellence in Teaching twice during her career. After retirement from Naugatuck, she was a supervisor for the education department of the University of New Haven where she met and mentored many prospective student teachers. She graduated from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT and did graduate and post graduate work at Central CT State College and Walden University.
She was a member of the Naugatuck Retired Teachers Association, the Waterbury Elks Card League, and the OLLIE education group at UCONN.
Her greatest gifts were her sons, Jonathan (Shannon) of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and Jason (Kirsten) of Monroe, CT. She leaves her most loved and adored grandchildren, Miles, Maggie, Fiona and Gavin Grady to cherish her memory along with longtime companion Fred Rosenbaum.
Arrangements: At Nancy's request there will be a Mass of Christian Burial with her cremains present celebrated on Thursday January 4, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. John The Evangelist Church 574 Main Street Watertown. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours will be held Thursday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory 200 Benson Road Middlebury, CT. A procession will then leave for the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Nancy's memory to: St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
