Nancy Lynn Griggs

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Lynn Griggs (nee Herbert) who entered eternal rest on January 29, 2025. Nancy was born to Nick and Mary Herbert and grew up surrounded by the love of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brothers, Don "Duke" Herbert and Tom Herbert.
Nancy's life was one of devotion-to her family, her Catholic faith, and the beauty of the world around her. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Dorel "Dob" Griggs; siblings, Nick Herbert and Marilyn (Herbert) Griggs; and her four cherished children: Khristine Griggs, Jennifer (Kent) Dalton, Ben (Jody) Griggs, and Jason Griggs. She was the proud Gigi to Kennedy (Noah) Tucker, Tanner Griggs, Nick Dalton, Jack Dalton, Hayley Griggs, Savannah Griggs, Ava Griggs, and Vivienne Griggs, and the delighted great-grandmother of Harper Jean Tucker.
Nancy found her greatest joy in the simple and profound moments of life-gardening in her backyard, baking treats for loved ones, and being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchild, whom she adored. Her vibrant gardens and warm kitchen were places of gathering, laughter, and love.
A woman of deep faith, Nancy served her church community as a music minister for over thirty years. Her angelic voice and skillful guitar playing were gifts she shared with countless others, inspiring and uplifting all who heard her. Through her music, she brought peace, hope, and joy to those around her.
Nancy's legacy is one of unconditional love, dedication to her family, and a steadfast commitment to her faith. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Funeral Mass will be held at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Lancaster, Ohio on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00am. The family invites family and friends to a Celebration of Life luncheon immediately following the Mass in the St. Mary Spirit Center. Nancy will be cremated, and her family will privately honor her wishes to have her ashes laid to rest in a place of special significance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nancy's memory to the organizations who supported her care with dignity, respect, and empathy. Fairhope Hospice in Lancaster, Ohio or the Myser Family Parkinson's Research Fund at the Ohio State University Foundation to support research on Parkinson's disease in the Movement Disorders Division in the Department of Neurology, College of Medicine, to help eradicate the disease and/or improve treatments and patient outcomes.
Rest in peace, Mom, Gigi, Nancy. Your life was a song, and your love will echo in our hearts forever.
