With her daughter at her bedside, Mrs. Nancy Richardson White Hammond transitioned peacefully from the earthly life at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning January 26, 2026 to be with her family members who have gone on before.

Mrs. Hammond was under the care of Hospice of Cookeville and was pronounced deceased at 10 a.m. by a paramedic from the Putnam County Ambulance Service at the age of 83.

Mrs. Hammond is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where her services will be conducted Friday afternoon January 30th at 1 p.m. T. H. P. Chaplain Johnny Beaver will officiate and burial will follow in the Richardson family plot in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends only on Friday from 9 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral services at Sanderson in Carthage.

She was born Nancy Carol Richardson in the Wartrace Creek Community of Jackson County on February 21, 1942 and was one of four children, two daughters and two sons of the late Wilbur D. Richardson who died February 1, 1972 at the age of 61 and Ines Legray Hardcastle Richardson who died December 16, 2000 at the age of 87.

Her daughter-in-law, Holly Smith White died as a result of cancer on January 24, 2024 at the age of 52.

She not only experienced the loss of her two brothers; Billy Joe Richardson who died October 9, 2001 at the age of 67 and Danny Grey Richardson who died August 5, 2014 at the age of 68 from complications from a diving accident off of the coast of Florida, she endured the loss of two nephews, Terry Lane Richardson who died as the result of an automobile accident on February 16, 1983 at the age of 21 in Houston, Texas and Vincent Grey Richardson who died at the age of 18 on August 5, 1989 who also died as the result of an automobile accident that was in the Cato Community.

Mrs. Hammond was a graduate of the East High School in Nashville in the class of 1960.

She was saved at an early age at the former Wartrace United Methodist Church and at the time of her death was a member of the Carthage Full Gospel Church in Carthage.

She retired in 2007 and will best be remembered as a kind, helpful, and understanding lady who assisted hundreds of Ladies with selections in the fabric department in Carthage.

Surviving is her son, Tennessee Highway Patrol Sergent, Tracy White of the Four-Way-Inn Community and a daughter, Terri White Comstock of Cookeville; her only surviving sibling, Ruthie Richardson Burton of South Carthage; three grandchildren, Brady Comstock of Cookeville, Michaela Caudill and husband Will of New Braunfels, Texas, Chance Dixon Waller of the Four-Way-Inn Community and three great-grandchildren, Easton Caudill, Weston Caudill, and Halston Caudill.
