Nancy Mae Hicks passed away on November 4, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 28, 1940, in
Cincinnati, OH, Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She spent her life nurturing her family, and her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.
Nancy graduated from Western Hills High School in 1958. Later in life, she returned to pursue her education at the University of Cincinnati, earning an Associate's Degree in 1988. She worked as a branch manager at Cincinnatus Savings and Loan, but her true passion lay in cooking, sewing, crafting, and creating special moments for her family. She was well known for many delicious dishes and the love she showed with every meal to those around her.
Nancy had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs and cats, who brought her much comfort throughout her life. Her spiritual upbringing shaped her values, and she was a firm believer in kindness and compassion towards others. The family's cherished summer cottage at Eagle's Nest Lake in Ely, MN, was filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments spent together.
Nancy enjoyed traveling and camping adventures with her extended family, where they would sing around the campfire. Holiday gatherings at her home, complete with a visit from Santa, were a beloved tradition that brought everyone together. While Nancy enjoyed all Cincinnati sports, her real love was watching the Cincinnati Reds, a passion passed down from her parents.
Nancy was a devoted caregiver to her parents and other family members. Her independence and strength were inspiring, and her legacy of love will carry on through her daughter, Carol (Tim) Case; son, Michael (Louise) Hicks; grandchildren, Rachel (Alan) Fullenkamp, Lauren (Jon) Diers, Jacqueline (Robert) Makishi, Zachary Case, and Elena Case; great-grandchildren, James Fullenkamp, Austin Fullenkamp, Leo Fullenkamp, Kayla Diers, Erika Diers, Lexi Makishi, and Corey Makishi; and her dear sister, Phyllis Pohlman.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marcella Strohm (nee Oliger), and her great-grandson, Leo Fullenkamp.
