Nancy Hoople Obituary

Hoople, Nancy Ellen 11/21/1954 - 2/18/2023 Muskegon Nancy Ellen Hoople of Muskegon, MI, 68, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023 at home after battling cancer. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan November 21, 1954 to her loving parents Dr. Donald Hoople and Bonna Mae Hoople. Nancy graduated from North Muskegon High School in 1972 and continued her higher education at the Art Institute of Chicago where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Nancy lived in Chicago for many years where she worked a variety of jobs such as sales, trade shows, and server at Comiskey Park. She returned to Muskegon where she taught high school right up until this January. She refurbished antique furniture as well as maintained an ebay store. Most of all, Nanette was a social butterfly who loved spending time with friends and organizing various get-togethers. She volunteered for many events around western Michigan such as Muskegon Lake cleanup and serving drinks at the Irish Music Festival. Nancy was well known for her stylish clothes and for her upbeat personality. Her interests were extensive from current events, politics, music, art, dance, literature, trivia, and especially old movies and vintage clothing. All who knew her will miss her unique character, quick wit, contagious laughter and stunning elegance. Nancy is survived by her loving beau Eric Miles Olson, her brother Daniel Andrew Hoople, his wife Christine, extended family and wonderful friends. A celebration of life will be held in her honor with the Reverend Eileen Stoffan presiding at 1pm on Saturday, March 4, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Muskegon, reception following service at the church's great hall. Nancy was one of the happiest people I have known. She was always excited to see you. She always saw the best of each person. I saw her several times over the past couple years as she helped on the 50th high school reunion. She wanted to see everyone in the class of 72. Nancy took her cancer on and did not let it slow her down. She was a delightful women with great courage and determination. She will be missed by all. Dale Mead

I remember Nancy and Bonnie! Nancy sure got her laugh and fun spirit from her mom. We were all at Bonnie's memorial a few years ago and Nancy was so sad losing her Mom. They were so close. But Nancy took off on her own and she made the best of it. She had that laugh and that twinkle un her eyes. Denise and will surely miss her, especially during the summer, which I think was Nancy's favorite time of the year.

I am truly saddened that we lost the “glue” to our class. Nancy’s caring, true curiosity of others wellbeing, and kindness was always over the top. She always carried herself with class, a happy face, and a loud wonderous laugh that I will miss dearly. She was a wonderful classmate that can’t be replaced.

Sending my deepest sympathies to Eric and Nancy's family. I will always remember how much fun we had in art class and her great laugh! If it was not for Nancy our class would not have had a 50th reunion, and it was great. She is going to be missed.

Nancy will be remembered in many ways from her sense of humor to her artistic talents. Because our last names began with an "H" Nancy and I were always locker mates and stood in line together when the line was formed alphabetically through all grades from kindergarten to senior year. She was a kind hearted soul and will be missed. Rest in peace. Eric and Daniel, keep close the memories as I´m sure they will bring forth smiles and warmth in your hearts. My sympathies to you both.
