Nancy Bailey King

Nancy Bailey King, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025. Born in Yancey County on January 4, 1931, she was a longtime resident of Buncombe County.

Through her journey with dementia, Nancy maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, and love of family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother of three children. Near the end of her life, in her diminished state, she quickly became a favorite of her Summit Ridge care giving staff. Until she lost the ability to talk, Nancy would express how grateful she was to have lived a long and beautiful life. She was always sharing her wonderful experiences about her loving family, good friends, and compassionate caregivers.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Renee Freeman and her husband Keith; son, Adam King; two grandchildren: Brittany Freeman Matamoras and her husband Jose, and David Faulkner and his wife Leah; and a great-granddaughter, Sydney.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Coy King; daughter, Terry Jane King; her parents, Sidney Dewey Bailey and Dorothy McCurry Bailey; and six siblings.

Nancy was a devoted follower of Christ whose life was marked by faith, service, and love. For years she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville. She loved her church family.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler with Pastor Allen Rash officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of The Laurels at Summit Ridge for taking great care of her and becoming part of our family. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Four Seasons Hospice for their compassionate care during our mother's final days.
