Nancy Lou King McGlothlin, 79, of Kingsport, died on October 30, 2025, at NHC from complications of a recent illness and long-term effects of two strokes suffered two years earlier. Nancy was born July 17, 1946, in Kingsport to Will Sharp King and Martha Morrison King. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education from East Tennessee State University. She was a longtime elementary school teacher, primarily teaching first and second grades at Rock Springs Elementary School, where she was beloved by her many students.
Nancy will be remembered by everyone who knew her for her exceptional kindness, generosity, and love for children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Megan McGlothlin.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Chris McGlothlin; sister, Martha Ward; son, Joel McGlothlin; daughter-in-law, Mary-Louise Maas; grandsons, Everett and Ian McGlothlin; and many other special family members and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held. The family invites donations in her memory be directed to Doctors Without Borders, the American Stroke Association, or the American Cancer Society.
