Nancy Joan Meyer, 69, of Harvard, passed away peacefully on Oct. 10, 2025, after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Glen Cove, New York, on Sept. 28, 1956, Nancy was the daughter of Lois (Hansen) and the late John Meyer. She grew up in Commack, New York, where she loved spending time at the beach with her three sisters.

A talented and creative artist, Nancy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and English from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a Master of Fine Arts from Long Island University’s CW Post Campus. She also studied graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

Nancy was a loving and free spirit — a devoted wife, stepmother, grandmother (“Grancy”), daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to travel, constantly adding to her list of people and places she’d like to visit and dreaming up new ideas for her next adventure.

She had a deep and lifelong connection to the Isles of Shoals. She spent summers as a “Pelican” on Star Island and dedicated many years to working and volunteering on the Isles, including serving as a clerk for the Star Island Corporation, working on Appledore Island, and volunteering as a steward of Smuttynose Island. It was through the Star Island community that she met her beloved husband, Dick Case. They married in 2003 and shared the love of sailing together along the Maine coast aboard his sailboat, Thisbe.

Nancy was passionate about helping others and dedicated much of her career and volunteer time to nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she worked with the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Her lifelong love of animals also inspired her to volunteer at local cat shelters and foster countless litters of kittens through the years.

An engaged and active citizen, Nancy believed in speaking up and giving back. She served as an elected member of Harvard’s Warner Free Lecture Committee and volunteered with political campaigns and community organizations.

Nancy embraced life fully, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Dick Case; stepdaughter Debbie Manning and her husband Greg; stepson Ed Case, his partner Meg Witherbee, and their sons Fell, Ebbie, and Able; her mother, Lois Meyer; sisters Cathy Merritt, Caryl Zimmerman, and Jacky Ingengo and their husbands Bruce, Greg, and Don; nieces and nephews Emily, Jason, Jake, Jamie, Donnie, Jenn, and Kris; and grandnieces and grandnephews Luke, Lily, Louie, Olivia, and Lucas.

She will be so deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church, 9 Ayer Road, Harvard, Massachusetts, on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
