Nancy Miller, 77, of Thornton, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025 at Heritage Care in Mason City. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Thornton United Methodist Church 404 Maple Street, Thornton. She will be laid to rest at the Pleasant View Cemetery following the service. A public visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Thornton United Methodist Church. Woodley Funeral Home of Thornton is caring for Nancy and her family.
Nancy passed away peacefully at 12:50 a.m. Monday after a 32 year battle with M.S. a cancer bout, dementia, and a stroke to be with the lord.
Nancy was born December 19, 1947. She was the daughter of Leonard and Nan Garnas. Following graduation with the class of 66 of Northwood Kensetts she went onto LaJames Beauty College where she earned her Certificate. Nancy was blessed with two daughters, Melanie and Mindy.
She worked as a beautician, a cook at the Manly Nursing Home, and at Sperry-Unises in Clear Lake. She then Met and married Dale Miller in 1986 and lived on a farm at Thornton, and raised her family while working at Fuel Time gas station in Thornton, and Farm and Home Publishing in Belmond.
Nancy loved to spend time with her grandchildren and raising flowers especially geraniums. She also liked making craft items, she enjoyed making a yearly trip to Saint Louis to watch a Cardinal baseball game.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 39 years, Dale, her daughters Melanie Allen and Mindy Morris, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Nan Garnas, and Dale's parents Myrl and Iva Miller.

So sad to get this information.
We grew up a mile apart in rural Northwood. We were classmates, and I knew both of her parents. We had several group birthday parties together as younger tikes.
Nancy, Steve Trainer and I attended country school together.
Always distressing to lose a classmate.
