Death Notice

Nancy Guylene Morstad

1949 - 2023

Nancy Guylene Morstad, 74, of Billings, Mt passed away on March 2nd, 2023 after a year and a
half long battle with cancer.
Nancy was born January 26th, 1949 to Guy and Marguerite Wood in Corning, CA. After
graduating from Red Bluff High School in 1967 she went on to cosmetology school in Redding,
CA where she worked until moving to Crosby, ND in 1972 to be closer to family. While living in
ND she met the love of her life, the Pepsi Man from Plentywood, Mt, Ron Morstad. He swept
her off her feet and they were married April 27th, 1974. They purchased the Alta Vista Cafe in
1976 and owned and operated it for 23 years. During those years they went on to have three
children Melody, Harmony, and Scott.
In 2004 they moved to Billings, MT to be closer to their children. Nancy worked in management
at Lowes for 10 years until semi-retiring and finding a part-time job at Taco Johns. She
absolutely loved her work family at Taco Johns and they loved her right back!
Nancy's pride and joy was her family, they meant more to her than anything else. She
absolutely loved being a mom to Melody, Harmony, and Scott, and loved being a grandma to
Noah, Meta, Pre, Parker, Zoey, Aliyah, Jackson, Charlotte, Buster, Murrey, and Razzy even
more. She bragged about her children and grandchildren at any opportunity and she tried to
never miss any of her grandkids' events, even towards the end. Anyone who knew Nancy knew
she was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend anyone could ask for. She was a
mother and later, a grandmother to everyone; she was a stranger to no one. To everyone who
met her it was love at first encounter.
Over the years they purchased many homes but something was always missing until they
moved into their last home. There they found the neighborhood where they were one big family
and what a wonderful family they are! They held many parties in Ronan's Garage.
Nancy loved to be the center of attention whether she was karaoking to Patsy Cline (always
receiving a standing ovation), telling jokes- especially about Ole and Lena, or being Plentywood
Wildcats "Big Mouth." She loved running across the gymnasium spraying citrus spray, and
proclaiming "I orange you" on Big Orange Night to receive her first place prize for best spirit and
costume. Many tried to beat her but always failed. She was the reigning champion for many
years. Nancy also loved to crochet, go camping with her family, cook and bake.
There are not enough words to describe how much she loved and was loved. Nancy had a big
personality with an infectious laugh and will be missed terribly! She has left a hole in many
hearts, but wonderful memories to cherish.
The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to 3844 Parkhill Dr., Billings, MT 59102.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life on June 17th, 2023 in Plentywood, MT at the
Civic Center from 1:00 to 3:00. There will also be a memorial in Billings, MT date and time to be
determined. Family will reach out with details when it is decided.
