A Celebration of Life and Time of Gathering for Nancy (Luther) Neubauer will be held on December 30, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Rand Community Center in
Missouri Valley, Iowa. Deacon Michael Carney will conduct a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
An additional Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Orleans, Nebraska, with Father Maurice Current as Celebrant.
Nancy Kay (Luther) Neubauer, 81 years of age, of
Missouri Valley, Iowa, died on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Azria Health Longview in Missouri Valley. Nancy was born on August 13, 1942, in
Oxford, Nebraska, the eldest of three children born to LeRoy and Zelma (Shaffer) Luther. She attended Orleans Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1960. Nancy earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kearney State Teacher's College in 1964.
On June 27, 1964, Nancy was united in marriage to Carl E. Neubauer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans. The couple made their home in Humboldt, Nelson, and
Geneva, Nebraska; and then
Missouri Valley, Iowa. They were blessed with three sons: Charles, Corey, and Christopher. Together the family enjoyed summer vacations in Colorado and the extra-curricular activities of their boys. The couple would later divorce.
Nancy taught for several years. Later as a seamstress in Omaha, her passion for sewing led to her proudest professional moments as she made dresses for Nancy Reagan and Sally Jesse Raphael among others.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with her sons, reading, and needlework.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Chuck Neubauer.
Nancy is survived by her sons: Corey Neubauer of
Belmond, Iowa; and Chris Neubauer of
Omaha, Nebraska; granddaughter, Danielle of Omaha; great-grandchildren: Lynea and Kingston both of Omaha; brother: Roger Luther and his wife, Jennifer of rural
Orleans, Nebraska; and sister: Marilyn Ornelas of
Sand Springs, Oklahoma; along with many extended family and many friends.
A memorial has been established in Nancy's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
