Nancy Rebecca (Gorman) O'Connor, 88, a cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend, went home peacefully to live with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Creekside Village, where she resided for the past fourteen years. She attended and was active with Queen of Peace Parish as a young woman and she most recently joined the parish of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was very faithful and loved the Lord. She loved to read, play bingo, catch up with the news on Facebook, go to activities both in and outside of Creekside, and visit with family and friends.She loved to watch Notre Dame games and cheer on the Irish. She was one of their biggest fans. She will be truly missed by those who knew her.
She was born February 17, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Russell W. and Mary G. (Greenwell) Gorman and spent her childhood with her sister Alice in Greenfield, Indiana. She graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in September of 1957 and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in the South Bend and Mishawaka area hospitals. She married Robert Lewis O'Connor on October 19, 1957 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Greenfield, Indiana.Together they raised three children, Kelly (Phil) Hoffman, Kevin (Nancy Lynn) O'Connor, and Kristin (Kevin) Hill in Osceola, Indiana where they lived for many years.
When she married, she joined a large family of in laws Walter W. and Edna (Senesac) O'Connor, Tom (Joann) O'Connor, Ann (Vince) Raja, Barry (Cathy) O'Connor, Myra O'Connor, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, all who she loved. One very special aunt that would visit regularly, Sister Marguerite Senesac, affectionately known as "Aunt Marge", was very dear to her.
She was truly loved by her eight grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Hoffman, Bethany Hoffman, Bobby Hoffman, Sean (Taylor) O'Connor, Erin (Brandon) Hunt, Kayla O'Connor, Kylie (Tim) Eichorst, Jon (Natalia) Hill, and seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan Hoffman, Stephen Hoffman, Emerson Hunt, Mabel O'Connor, Noah Hunt, Reid Eichorst, and Chandler O'Connor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law, her sister and brother-in-law, Alice (John) Lynn, one sister-in-law, Vickie O'Connor, her husband of fifty-one years at his passing, Robert, two brothers-in-law, Tom O'Connor and Vince Raja, two nephews, Bruce Oaldon and Brian Pugh, her aunt, Sister Marguerite Senesac, and one grandson, Bobby.
Visitation will be at Palmer Bubb Chapel 3910 North Main Street Mishawaka, IN 46545 on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday, February 3, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church 52553 N. Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530 with a funeral Mass immediately following. The Mass will be live-streamed for those loved ones who are not able to attend. There will be a private family interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers if you so wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Mary G. Gorman.
