Nancy Palmer Obituary
September 30, 1945 - June 27, 2022
Nancy Ann Palmer, of Auburn, AL, passed away after a long battle with dementia at the age of 76. Nancy was born on September 30, 1945 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Thomas and Catherine McGavin. She lived the majority of her life in upstate New York with her husband, Michael, and four children.
Nancy graduated from Suny New Paltz in 1967 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught high school English prior to starting her family in 1973. From there she dedicated her time to being a full time wife and mother. She was extremely attentive, loving, and fair. She made sure all of her children were at every practice, game, concert, and any other crazy extracurricular activity she encourged them to do.
She loved to cook, garden, sew, go to yard sales, play cards and scrabble, and do the daily crossword. There wasn't anything Nancy wouldn't or couldn't do. After moving to Auburn in 1995 she dabbled in running a restaurant, she had an antique business, and eventually found her way back to teaching. She was always an incredible hostess, and anything she would cook or bake she loved sharing with her friends and neighbors. Although this cruel disease took her away from her family way too early, she was able to spend some time with, and enjoy her six spirited grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Michael; her sons and their spouses Jon (Ivy) Palmer, Shelburne Falls, MA; Scott (Leslie) Palmer, Fairhope, AL; Mark (Ryan) Palmer, Auburn, AL; her daughter Jill (Clint) Adams, Auburn, AL; her six grandchildren Jaxon and Rosco Palmer, Presley and Eden Palmer, Lucy and Scarlet Adams; and her three sisters Kate Walsh, Maureen Kozlark, and Sharon Atcheson.
Nancy's hugs, smile, warmth and selfless nature will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her. There will be a private celebration of Nancy's life held by her family at a later date. In lieu of flowers please take care of your health, be gentle to one another, and hug your family as often as you can.

Such fun we had as teenagers, sitting in Howie's with cokes, watching the local boys, loved knowing her. My condolences to "Mickey", and all of her family and friends, may the happiest of memories help you all, she would want that.

I knew Nancy as a teenager, and I knew Mickey since kindergarten. I enjoyed knowing both. Nancy was a sterling silver person, regards to all who knew her.
