Nancy Ann Pollauf
11/9/1950 - 12/28/2025
Nancy Ann Pollauf, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away suddenly at her residence in Genoa, Ohio, on December 28, 2025, at 75 years old. Born to Arthur and Marian LaLonde in
Perrysburg, Ohio, she lived a life defined by devotion to her family, her work, and the many passions that brought her joy.
She graduated from Rossford High School and continued her education at Penta Career Center, later becoming a certified pharmacy technician. Nancy worked in several pharmacies throughout her career, ultimately retiring from Kroger after years of dedicated service.
Nancy met the love of her life, Gary Pollauf, at a pool hall, beginning a friendship and marriage that lasted 47 years. Married at Gesu Catholic Church in Toledo, they were devout members there until transitioning their attendance to St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge, Ohio.
Those early years were filled with friendly pool games and Nancy's love of cross-country skiing. Some of her happiest evenings were spent with her lifelong friend, Kathy, in their pool and bowling leagues. She took great pride in her lawn and garden, finding beauty and peace in flowers of every kind. After moving to their home on Sherbrooke in Toledo, Nancy spent countless hours refinishing the wood molding and trim, pouring her care into every detail.
Family was the role Nancy cherished most. She excelled as a mother and grandmother, known for her specialty birthday cakes, her endless creativity, and her talent for making every child feel celebrated. She created and photographed treasured memories through trips to Cedar Point, Maumee Bay, the Toledo Zoo, and afternoons spent swimming at Bowman Pool. Above all, her unwavering support and love remain her greatest legacy.
To relax, she immersed herself in Hallmark Christmas movies and tv shows. Nancy's favorite shows to laugh away the evening with were the Golden Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond, Mike and Molly, and Mama's Family.
Nancy shared a special bond with her mother, continuing their tradition of cooking German and Hungarian dinners, and baking together weekly even after she had children of her own. Loving a good game of Rummy, Nancy would play with mom and her cousins. She was known for her Hungarian cookies and nut bread, as well as the fudge she lovingly made for Gary. Every holiday and season brought new decorations, many of them handmade, as Nancy filled her home and the homes of loved ones with warmth and festive cheer.
Nancy is survived by her children, Amy (Kevin) Melvin, Christy (Jeremy) Pollauf, Brett (Belinda) Pollauf, and Matthew (Hilary) Pollauf; her grandchildren, Kyra, Kevin Jr., Landon, Henry, Elyssia, Eliana, Ethan, Evan, Madelyn, Savannah, and Auggie; her brother, Rick LaLonde; her lifelong friend, Kathy Aossey; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary; her parents; and her brother, Gary.
