Mrs. Prather is survived by her three children: Nancy H. Prather; John B. (Susannah) Prather and Tom (Maureen) Prather; 6 grandchildren: Lisa B. Hypes, Andrew C. Bernard, Elizabeth P. Gabehart, Brain H., Laura A., and Jessica B. Prather; 7 great grandchildren and two special caregivers, Brenda Bryant and Pamela Mefford.
Born in Monroe, NC, on July 27, 1920, Mrs. Prather first came to Georgetown as a young lady to attend Georgetown College where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority and met a dashing young pilot who would become her husband.
Mrs. Prather was an avid reader and outstanding bridge player. She was a long time member of the Georgetown Homemaker’s Club and enjoyed her bridge club friends for years. She and her husband lived exceptionally full lives, traveled throughout the United States with their Avion Travelcade friends, enjoyed many years of family boating fun, and loved being with friends and family.
Blessed with a beautiful spirit, intellect, grace and unsurpassed dignity, she proudly raised three children who because successful adults and lovingly participated in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren-a true family matriarch.
While never holding political or appointed office, Mrs. Prather staunchly supported the public process and her family’s public and political involvement. She was a great campaigner. She was extremely proud of all of her children and grandchildren, both in their personal and professional accomplishments.
Memorial services will be 11:00AM Thursday at Johnson’s Funeral Home by Rev. Scott Cox and Judge George Lusby. Inurnment will be in the Georgetown Cemetery. Honorary bearers will be Mrs. Prather’s grandchildren. Visitation will be 5—8:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Georgetown-Scott County Senior Citizens Center, 800 Cincinnati Pike, Georgetown, Ky. 40324, where Mrs. Prather had found a supportive and loving community.
