Nancy Virginia Prouty, 81 of Canehill, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born in Chicago, IL, on April 27, 1944, to Walter C. and Teresa M. Reidl.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred (Slim) Prouty, and her brother, Walter J. Reidl.

She is survived by her sister, Cora Jean Reidl of Chicago, IL; niece, Jo Ann (Reidl) Pena of Chicago, IL; great-niece, Enycia Pena of Chicago, IL; great-nephew, Jonah Pena of Chicago, IL; and sister-in-law, Maita Reidl of Des Plaines, IL.

She was married to (Slim) in the 1960's and joined him for many years on ranches devoted to training racehorses. When they moved to Arkansas, Nancy began working at a Title and Trust Company until her retirement.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion to those she held dear. Nancy was known for her warm smile and deep laugh, and she will be greatly missed.

A visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Wasson Funeral Home, with interment to follow at the Fayetteville National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
