Mrs. Nancy Sue "Nan" (Doolin) Quick of Springfield, Missouri (formerly Dixon, Missouri) was born on November 20, 1940, in Waynesville, Missouri, to Willie and Georgia (Sutton) Doolin and departed this life at Willard Care Center on May 10, 2025, at 11:55 am with her family. Nan attained the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 20 days.
Nan attended Waynesville Schools and met the love of her life, Al, while they both worked at Page's Grocery Store in St. Robert, Missouri. On December 1, 1956, they were married at Fort Leonard Wood. For 21 years, she enjoyed the hardest job in the USMC, Marine Wife. Nan spent most of her life in healthcare, working at the Pulaski County Hospital; Dr. Benny Thomas DO, Dixon, Missouri, and Mercy Hospital in Springfield. In 1979, she became the Center Administrator for the Dixon Senior Citizens Center and later for multiple Senior Center locations in Central Missouri, where hot meals and Meals on Wheels were provided to local seniors.
She was saved at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dixon, then Galloway Baptist Church in Springfield. She was a member of the Garnet Chapter of the Eastern Star and served on the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging.
Nan was a fan of any sport or activity her grandchildren (& great) participated in, the St. Louis Cardinals, traveling, bingo, Mahjong, and trips to the casino.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Al, her parents, sister Mary, and brothers Robert and Benny, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Mildred Quick, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Nan was survived by her children, son Robert of Springfield, daughter Susan, and husband Lee Howser of Olathe, Kansas. Five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. One brother, Bill Doolin, Dixon, Missouri and Bonus kids; Akitoshi Ono, Tokyo, Japan, Dale (Glenda) Quick, Cleveland, Missouri, and Tracy Razer, Dixon, Missouri, a special niece, Kimberly Riffe of Columbia, Missouri along with a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM, with Funeral Service following at 11:30 AM, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of her great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Quick to Boston Children's Hospital Fundraise Your Way 2024-2025: Team HannieMae: Research for Short Gut - Boston Children's Hospital, (this link is to Brooklyn's team) or GYN Cancers Alliance (GYNCA), Springfield, Missouri.
