Nancy Redford Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary McCullough on Dec. 17, 2010.
Nancy Redford, formerly of Baldwin, L.I., NY and Harrisonburg Virginia, went to eternal rest on December 17, 2010. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emma Brown, her brother, Theodore Brown, and her loving husband, William J. Redford. She is survived by one brother, Charles Brown. She is also survived by seven children: Susan Wilen, Bob Redford, Judy Dickey and husband, Dennis, all of San Antonio. She is also survived by Stuart Redford of Portland, Oregon, Sherry OConnor and husband John, of Purcellville, Va, Peter Redford of Baldwin, NY, and Bill Redford of Leesburg, Va. She is survived by grandchildren Howard Wilen, Hana Wilen, Josh Wilen, Brian OConnor and wife Lindsey, Taylor OConnor and Reilly OConnor, and one great-grandson, Art OConnor. She is also survived by Josh, Benjamin, Daniel and Aaron Martin, of Caulfield, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews. Nancy served in WWII as a WAVE, doing occupational therapy with battle fatigued soldiers. She married William Redford after the war, and became a nurse, working both in hospitals and doctor's offices. Nancy was a strong spirit who worked hard all her life to provide for her family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Baldwin, NY, and enjoyed many years as a member of the Women's Fellowship. Nancy enjoyed the company of many dear friends, and would laugh with them as they shared their experiences raising families. Nancy loved classical music, and would listen to the opera on the radio every Saturday. She enjoyed the ballet and symphony, and would jump at the chance to experience any live performance. Nancy was a wonderful mother, dear Grandmother, loving wife, and good friend. The family would like to thank the staff of Clarebridge Place of Castle Hills, for all of their loving care, and Vitas Hospice for all of the comfort that they provided Nancy in her final days. A burial service in which Nancy will be interred along with her husband William, will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 am on January 7, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Nancy to Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.

Mom, I sure could use you right now. Everywhere I turn, I am losing people. It is so painful to go on without some of my favorite people in my life. I could use one of your hugs and some reassurance that things are going to be okay. I miss that the most about not having you. You did a really good job of helping me through the bad times. Thanks for that. I hope you, Pop, Stuart and Bob are having dinner together...laughing and enjoying each other. I miss all of you a lot.
