Nancy Ricks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rannells Funeral Home - Koontz Lake Chapel on Feb. 9, 2025.
Nancy L. Ricks, 87, of Walkerton, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 8, 2025, following an illness. She entered the gates of heaven surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 28, 1937, in South Bend, Nancy lived most of her life in the area. She was a proud homemaker, devoted to her family and home. On June 19, 1967, she married the late Ernest "Bud" Ricks in Knox, Indiana, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Nancy was an avid horse lover and a longtime member of the Western Quarter Horse Association, where she enjoyed attending horse shows and celebrating her passion for horses. She was also a proud member of the New Carlisle Order of Eastern Star. In her quiet moments, Nancy found joy sitting on her porch, enjoying the simple pleasures of life and entertaining family and friends.
Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was unwavering, and she treasured the time spent with them. Nancy leaves behind her daughter, Marlene (Marshall) Sherland; three granddaughters, Holly (Todd) Seese, Emily Campbell, and Ehricha (Eric Doms) Sherland; five great-grandchildren, Ashley (Brock) Smith, Lance "Scrub" (Logan) Campbell, Macy Seese, Caleb Seese, and Samantha Doms; her stepson Doug Ricks; and one stepdaughter Sherry Eaton. She was also blessed with three great-great-grandchildren, Harper Smith, Tate Campbell, and Silas Campbell.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her daughter, Tammy Ricks, and a stepson Brett Ricks.
A funeral service to honor Nancy's life will be held at 12:30 PM EST on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 3:00 PM EST at New Carlisle Cemetery. Nancy's family would like everyone to dress casually for the viewing and services. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society or Sarah Care Hospice in Nancy's memory.
Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
