Nancy Rohrer Obituary

Published by Billings Gazette on Feb. 19, 2008.
"I can't imagine forever without a friend like you"
Jackie Kotar to Nancy on Valentine's Day 2008.
Nancy passed away Feb. 15, 2008, at her home in Billings, with family and friends by her side.
She was born June 15, 1956 at Terry, the daughter of Marilyn (Tanglen) and Leigh Sherman.
Nancy began school in Greybull, Wyo., and graduated from Senior High in Billings. She also attended MSU in Bozeman. During her school years, she volunteered as a Candy Striper and drove the ice cream wagon.
While working in Red Lodge, she met Sandy McDonald. They married in 1984. They divorced but remained friends.
Nancy married Barry "Jim" Rohrer, Sept. 1, 2000, and she was thrilled to have his three sons become part of her life.
Nancy worked at St. Vincent Hospital for 25 years. She loved her job and considered her co-workers family.
She was a relentless tease, joker and prankster. Friends, family, neighbors and strangers, no one was spared. Even as she was telling family and friends she was terminal, it was with so much humor no one was really sure if it was the truth or another one of her practical jokes.
We will always remember her one minute tirades, followed by robust laughter.
Nancy is survived by husband Jim; his sons, James, Peter and William; grandchildren Marcus and Kiana, who was born four days before Nancy passed away; her father, Leigh Sherman; sister, Susan Axton; special friend of the family, Adaline Kiss; aunts Jane Nelson, Verlie Hanson; and numerous cousins.
Nancy's family would like to make special mention of friend Dwayne Bondy who was there for most of her life and daily during her last days, also Jackie and Rod Kotar, Tim Dore, and Roy "Radar" Durnford who all came to make her final hours happier. Nancy was a collector of friends and you know who you are and how much she enjoyed you all.
Cremation has taken place. Private services will be held; please phone 248-3171 for more information. Condolences may be sent to the family at 3815 Fourth Ave. S., Billings, MT 59101.
Arrangements are by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

It's hard to imagine someone so full of life suddenly knocked down with illness. I'm happy her vivacious spirit is free and full of laughter again. I met Nancy at MSU when lifes new journey was taking off like gang busters. I know she is "Going for it" in heaven now. You are missed.

When Nancy was a little girl she was a good friend. When her family moved from Terry in the early 60's, I lost contact with her. Her passing brings back some very good old memories. So sorry to here of her passing.

Nancy was one of the first people I met when I started working at Deaconess, and remained a good friend after she changed hosptials.Life was made brighter by just knowing her. I consider it a honor and privledge to have had her as my friend. There is definitely a empty spot left on Earth without her, maybe the angels needed such a fun person to hang out with. Nancy you will be greatly missed.
