Nancy Jean (Godin) Roy, 73, of North Attleboro, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro.

Born in Pawtucket, RI on Oct. 9, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Eugene E. Godin and the late Lucille D. (Holst) Godin.

Raised and educated in North Attleboro, she was a graduate of North Attleboro High School, Class of 1969. She received an associate's degree in social work from the Community College of Rhode Island where she was a member of Phi Beta Cappa.

As a dedicated and devoted social worker, she was an employee at Norcap Lodge in Norton for many years, and at various transitional houses for both women and men.

Nancy treasured her time spent with family creating lifelong memories. Her happiest times were those spent in the company of her beloved grandchildren. Her family recalls with fondness, her sense of humor, her big heart and her ability to find the silver lining. Throughout her life some of her interests included dancing, reading, crafting, sewing, and gaining knowledge.

She leaves three children: Tammie L. Hall and her husband Bruce A. Hall of North Attleboro, Todd M. Sawyer and his wife Jennifer J Sawyer of Dracut, MA, and Tiffany L. Sawyer and her husband John H. DeLuca of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren: Lia A. Hall, Sawyer A. Hall, Peter W. Sawyer, Ethan M. Sawyer and Nicolas R. Sawyer; her sister Linda L. Salveson and her husband John J. Salveson of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Monday, March 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave., Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. immediately following the conclusion of visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, care of Chief Financial Officer, 600 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02111.

So sad to hear of Nancy's passing. Nancy and I worked together in the late 70s. I was an awkward high school kid with an abysmal home life and over time, we somehow became friends. She was always so supportive and challenged me to rise above my circumstances and make the best of whatever life dished out. She advised and encouraged as she lived; strong, smart, fearless, ambitious and driven, yet kind, compassionate and caring. Nancy helped me through a really bad period in my life and I think I was able to support her in some ways myself. I remember her as a fantastic mother to her kids who were always so happy, polite and fun. May your mom's memory carry you. I wish you all peace.

I have known Nancy for a very long time. She was always smiling and liked to have a good time. She was very good friends with my sister and was always at our house. Treasured memories. Later online while she was living at the North Attleboro Housing Authority she was very caring and nice to my mother-in-law who also lived there.

We don´t share a bloodline, but you are my sister in my heart. My heart is broken - I´ll miss you like crazy, but I thank God that you are finally free from pain.
We´ve shared a lot of things over the years - lots of laughs and secrets, our daughters, our grandchildren, and, unfortunately, way too many tears.

I love you Nancy - rest up and keep an eye on my Dad for me. I´ll see you soon, and then the music, the dancing, and the foolishness will pick up right where we left off.
