Nancy Scanlon passed away peacefully at Halquist Memorial Hospital on June 28, 2011. Beloved wife of James B. Scanlon for 59 years, mother of Denise White of Hanover, VA, Susan Carlson of Manassas, VA, grandmother of Nicole, Alicia and Monica Carlson, sister of Michael Zerillo of Fountain Hills, AZ, mother-in-law of Dr. David White and Richard Carlson, and sister-in-law of Judy Zerillo. She is preceded in death by her brother, Victor Zerillo. Nancy grew up in St Louis, MO, where she met Jim in 1947, married him in 1952 and accompanied him during his 23 years of US Army service, settling in Fairfax, VA in 1969. She worked for the offices of Personnel and Clerk to the Board of Supervisors of the Fairfax County Government for 26 years. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nan's live on August 1, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Everly Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, VA. Funeral services will be at Arlington National Cemetery at 1:00 PM on August 2, 2011. Family and friends will meet at the Cemetery's Administration Building at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Capital Hospice, 4715 North 15th Street, Arlington, VA 22205 where she and her family were provided with compassionate care.
