Nancy Schwartz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boeke Funeral Home - Radcliffe on Feb. 10, 2026.
Nancy Schwartz, age 86, formerly of Radcliffe, IA, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA.

Nancy Arlene (Topp) Schwartz was born to Wade and Florence (Lindebak) Topp on January 17, 1940 in Eldora, IA.

Nancy attended country school in Sherman No. 1 and graduated from Radcliffe High School with the class of 1957. She attended Iowa Teachers College and between semesters, and as life often happens, met a nice young fellow Vern Schwartz, who offered to drive her to choir practice. They ultimately decided to marry and start life on the farm together. The next few years the children arrived, Curtis, Leon, Connie and finally Paul.

Nancy was a fun-loving gal who loved to travel, go camping and play cards. Her life changed when she suffered a serious stroke at age 34. Her church family devoted themselves to praying for her surgery to remove a blood clot at the base of her brain. It truly was a miracle she survived and though her recovery was long, she was tenacious and learned to adapt in so many ways.

Nancy's grew up in the EUB Evergreen Church where she accepted Christ as her Savior. Nancy's faith was important to her. She was a faithful attendee of Faith Evangelical Church and loved taking part in Women's Missionary Fellowship.

Nancy became an excellent cook and baker (known for her Kringla) and was an excellent house cleaner. She helped on the farm as she could and was a janitor for Buckeye Coop for a number of years. Nancy loved puzzles, games and coached all of her grandchildren to learn to play 500. Vern and Nancy wintered in Texas for a number of years and made many friends there.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years Vern Schwartz; children: Curtis (Nan) Schwartz, Leon (Sharon) Schwartz, Connie (Colin) Christy and Paul Schwartz (companion Laura); nine grandchildren: Joelle (Ashesh) Bohara-Schwartz, Aaron (Rebecca) Schwartz, Julie (Augustine) Toscano, Heather (Devin) Wunschel, Brittany ( Benton) Daleske, Benjamin Christy, Abby (Lionel) D' Souza, Alicia (Timothy) Loe, Mirakel Schwartz; 12 great grandchildren; brothers Dan (Tammy) Topp and Neal (Linda) Topp; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
