NANCY L. SEIF, age 82, of Greenwood, WI, left this world on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from the comfort of her home-surrounded by everything she loved. After a short, but fierce, battle with cancer, Nancy took her final exit, in true Nancy fashion with a witty remark and a bad joke just to lighten the room. Per her wishes, a private graveside burial will be held at a later date, and she'd probably want you all to know, it's because she didn't want to be the center of attention, if she had to be silent.
Born October 15, 1942, in Valparaiso, IN, to Philenus and Anna Marie (Vitoux) Westbay, Nancy spent her early years in Valparaiso, IN. In 1959, her parents decided farm life in Clark County sounded like a grand adventure, packing up the family and landing in Greenwood, WI. Nancy finished her schooling there, graduating from Greenwood High School and immediately embarking on her lifelong mission to never let a dull moment pass by.
Nancy was not one to let life pass her by-or to let anyone else do so, either. If you knew Nancy, odds are you've been on the receiving end of a loving insult or a piece of spunky encouragement, doled out with the perfect mix of sass and timing. She could light up a room, start a party, or spice up a family event (sometimes all at once). Never content to be pinned down, Nancy sampled more careers and adventures than most people have pairs of socks. But no matter where she roamed, two things always called her back: her passion for cooking and baking, and her love affair with the open road. Her pies were legendary, her personality even more so. And when she wasn't filling bellies at her restaurants, she was logging miles in her big rig with her trusty co-pilot, Mac the Boston Terrier, who proudly held the title of Favorite Child.
Retirement didn't slow Nancy down, just gave her more time to chat up strangers (who quickly became friends) and work part-time wherever she pleased. She had a unique gift: she could make you feel beautiful, special, and just a little bit dumb all in one conversation. If you left her presence without laughing, you probably weren't listening. Nancy also had a green thumb that put the rest of us to shame, and her yard was her pride and joy-though she'd tell you the flower gardening gene skipped the rest of the family.
Nancy leaves behind a family almost as lively as she was; her children: Laura & Brian Opelt, Dawn & Leon Gregorich, Shawn & Mark Collinson, Scott & Brenda Garlach, and Darren & Kedrin Londo; The Best Grandchildren: McKayla (Myles), Kolton, Kameron (Trevyn), Storm, Rylee (Jace), Tyson, Taylor (Jenna), Summer, Cody, Dustin, Darion, and Lyric; and Sweet Great-grandchildren: Ember, Maverick, Montgomery, Raylan, Aidan, and Mason. She also leaves her beloved Boston Terrier, Millie, who proudly took the title of Favorite Child after Mac, and enough cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to fill a small town.
She's reuniting in the great beyond with her parents and siblings-Mavis, Anna Marie, Philenus, Pauline, Edna, and Irene-no doubt ready to stir things up and bake a mean pie.
Nancy's spirit, sass, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. If you listen closely, you'll probably still hear her laughing at our expense, just as she would have wanted.
