Nancy Carol Shaffer

Nancy C. Shaffer, 87, of Wapakoneta, passed away 10:37 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta, with her loving family at her side. She was born April 5, 1938, in Uniopolis, OH, the daughter of the late John and Edith (Gesler) Bell. On June 7, 1959, she married Robert V. Shaffer and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2007.

3 children, Joni Shaffer, Wapakoneta,

Keith (Christine Dimas) Shaffer, Mt. Prospect, IL,

Steve Sheffer Wapakoneta;

6 grandchildren, Thomas (Jen) Karbowiak, Kristin (Brad) Thobe,

Dylan Shaffer, Macey Shaffer, Laura Shaffer, Emilia Shaffer;

6 great grandchildren;

a sister, Patricia (Larry ) Thuman, Wapakoneta.

Nancy retired from the payroll department at Wapakoneta Machine Company after 27 years of dedicated service. She later worked as a substitute for Wapakoneta City Schools. A 1956 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta, Nancy was also a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and participated in the Alumni Marching Band. She enjoyed watching high school sports and, most of all, cherished spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Paul Bomeli officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m., Monday, March 23, and 1 hour prior to the service, Tuesday at the funeral home.
