It is with profound sadness that we announce that our beloved wife, mother, and Nana, Nancy Smith, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Nancy was born on September 28, 1959, in Ogden, Utah, to Frank and Natsuko Yamashita of Hooper, Utah. She later met and married her eternal companion, Jeff Smith, in the Ogden Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A faithful member of the Church, Nancy lived a life dedicated to service. She served in many callings, including youth and adult sports coordinator, primary worker, and on the activities committee. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built her life of kindness.
If you knew Nancy, you knew she was passionate about two things: her family and volleyball. She loved her family deeply and spoke of her children and grandchildren often. Beyond her home, she fostered a "volleyball family" that spanned the United States and crossed continents. Her infectious smile and laugh will be missed dearly by both communities.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Jeff; her children: Reiko (Bryan), Toshiko (Justin), and Joshua (Christina); and her grandchildren: Kirari, Emiko, Kimiko, Miyana, Taija, Luke, Mika, James, Harper, and Hudson. She is also survived by numerous relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Natsuko.
