Nancy Lu Wenger, 75, of Anacortes, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Christmas Day in
Seattle, WA, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. Born on April 26, 1950, in Seattle to Richard and Virginia (Likins) Mottram, Nancy grew up with her three brothers-Dick, Lynn, and Roy-whose companionship shaped her early years with laughter, adventure, and deep family bonds.
Her childhood took her from Lower Woodland Park to Eastgate in Bellevue, where her family's commitment to Nazarene Church planting instilled in her a lifelong foundation of faith. Nancy graduated from Newport High School, carrying with her a quiet strength and a gentle spirit that would define her life.
In 1969, Nancy married Gordon Wenger, and soon welcomed her two children, Mike and Carol, who became the center of her world. After twenty years of marriage, she faced a painful divorce with remarkable grace and determination. Though she was left with very little, Nancy never allowed hardship to dim her optimism. She rebuilt her life with resilience, a steadfast faith, and the ever-present smile that became her signature. Her children remember her unwavering commitment to keeping them rooted in church and youth group, ensuring they always felt supported and loved.
Nancy pursued education at Northwest Nazarene College and Nazarene Bible College before finding her calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She served at both Swedish and Good Samaritan Hospitals, primarily in the Traumatic Brain Injury Ward. Her calm presence and soothing demeanor made her a trusted companion to patients in their most vulnerable moments. Nancy had a gift for simply sitting beside someone, offering a gentle touch, a kind word, and the warmth of her smile. Her compassion was her ministry.
Family was the heartbeat of Nancy's life. She treasured every gathering, especially Christmas, when her joy seemed to shine the brightest. She adored her children and their spouses-Mike and Sherry Wenger, Carol and Damien Keyes-and found immense pride in her grandchildren: Shaina (Shayne) Jewett, Evan (Marie) Wenger, Brandon Keyes, and Andrew Keyes; as well as her step-granddaughters, Kylee Berlin and Megan (Chris) Berlin. Her legacy continues through her six great-grandchildren: Lucas, Rose, Emily, Claire, Aurora, and Rainier. Nancy is also survived by her beloved brothers and their spouses: Dick and Charlotte Mottram, Lynn and Roberta Mottram, and Roy and Pamela Mottram; her nieces and nephews, Brent & Debbie Mottram, Andrea Richardson, Pamela Corona Black and Yvonne Corona.
Nancy's life was defined by kindness, faith, and a quiet courage that inspired everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless lives touched by her gentle care. Nancy's family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, her smile shining brighter than ever
